Registration Day:
We will have a mandatory County-Wide Registration Day on August 6, 2014 from 8:00 – 5:00 at Unity Elementary School. All parents must attend Registration Day even if you have completed all the paperwork. 

You will be required to bring one of the following:
*W-2 or W-4 form 
*Meriwether County Property Tax Assessment Form 
*Lease or mortgage form 
*Your drivers license with your physical address 
*Voters registration card with physical address

If your child is a first time student in Meriwether County Schools, you will also be required to provide a birth certificate and Social Security Card.
HB 251 Public School Choice for School Year 2014-2015:
As the parent or guardian of a student currently enrolled in our school system, we are writing to notify you that under state law, HB 
251, you may request to transfer your child to another public school in the Meriwether County School System for the upcoming 2014-
2015 school year. Please note that once your request has been approved, you DO NOT need to reapply until your child will be 
changing schools, such as leaving elementary school and going to an out of attendance zone middle school or from middle school to 
an out of attendance zone high school.

The Meriwether County School System (MCSS) needs your help evaluating parent involvement programs/services and school quality for the 2013-2014 school year.  Please take a few minutes to complete our Spring Parent Questionnaire, which will help us know how to meet the interests and needs of your family effectively.  Please answer each question as openly and honestly as possible, your answers will be anonymous.  Only one survey should be completed per household.  Thank you for participating.  We appreciate and value your opinions.

Pre-K Registration:

Dr. Summer Doucet, Director of Georgia’s Pre-Kindergarten Program for Meriwether County Schools, has announced that Early Bird Pre-Kindergarten Registration for the 2014-2015 school year is underway.

Children must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2014. Five-year old children who have not previously attended the Georgia’s Pre-K program and who have late birthdays or developmental delays may also enroll at the request of their parents. 

To register for the 2014-2015 Pre-Kindergarten Program, you'll need:
Proof of residence (ex. - a current utility bill)
Child's certified birth certificate
Child's social security card

The Pre-K registration form is available on the Meriwether County School System's Website.  Click on Departments and then click the Pre-K tab.  For information pertaining to an individual school's program, please contact the school. The contacts are as follows: George E. Washington Elementary School, (706)553-3951; Mountain View Elementary School, (706)655-3969; and Unity Elementary School, (770)927-6488.

The Buzzer System has arrived at Unity Elementary School:

From this point on, our main entrance door will be locked at 8:00. Visitors to our school throughout the day must ring the doorbell and be granted access by our front office staff. Please be ready to tell us the purpose of your visit before the door will be unlocked. You may be asked to show ID.  As always, visitors must stop in the main office to sign in.

In addition, please follow these steps:

  1. Press the buzzer.  The office staff will see you on the video screen.
  2. Face the camera and wait for office staff to respond.
  3. Tell the office staff the purpose of your visit.
  4. Place your hand on the door handle until you feel the click, and open the door. Only one person will be able to enter the school at a time.If someone is behind you, the door will have to be shut completely and Steps 1-4 will have to be followed.
  5. Enter the office and the staff will be happy to assist you.

We thank you for your cooperation with our security procedures as we work together to keep our school community safe.

Transportation Changes:
All transportation changes need to be in writing, and received at the school by 1:30 pm.
We cannot accept a phone call to change a child’s transportation plans.  We accept a transportation change by fax, please include a copy of the parent’s driver’s license with each request.
