Dr. Summer Doucet, Director of Georgia’s Pre-Kindergarten Program for Meriwether County Schools, has announced that Early Bird Pre-Kindergarten Registration for the 2014-2015 school year is underway.
Children must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2014. Five-year old children who have not previously attended the Georgia’s Pre-K program and who have late birthdays or developmental delays may also enroll at the request of their parents.
To register for the 2014-2015 Pre-Kindergarten Program, you'll need:
Proof of residence (ex. - a current utility bill)
Child's certified birth certificate
Child's social security card
The Pre-K registration form is available on the Meriwether County School System's Website. Click on Departments and then click the Pre-K tab. For information pertaining to an individual school's program, please contact the school. The contacts are as follows: George E. Academic Team: On January 16th, Unity Elementary hosted the first Academic Bowl for the West Georgia RESA Southern B Division. Unity's Academic Team competed in the first Academic Meet of the season, along with nine other local teams. Unity placed fourth overall, as well as going undefeated in all three rounds.

The Buzzer System has arrived at Unity Elementary School:
From this point on, our main entrance door will be locked at 8:00. Visitors to our school throughout the day must ring the doorbell and be granted access by our front office staff. Please be ready to tell us the purpose of your visit before the door will be unlocked. You may be asked to show ID. As always, visitors must stop in the main office to sign in.
In addition, please follow these steps:
- Press the buzzer. The office staff will see you on the video screen.
- Face the camera and wait for office staff to respond.
- Tell the office staff the purpose of your visit.
- Place your hand on the door handle until you feel the click, and open the door. Only one person will be able to enter the school at a time.If someone is behind you, the door will have to be shut completely and Steps 1-4 will have to be followed.
- Enter the office and the staff will be happy to assist you.
We thank you for your cooperation with our security procedures as we work together to keep our school community safe.
All transportation changes need to be in writing, and received at the school by 1:30 pm. We cannot accept a phone call to change a child’s transportation plans. We accept a transportation change by fax, please include a copy of the parent’s driver’s license with each request.
Georgia Parent Survey:
Our state is requiring that all parents take a "Georgia Parent Survey." Please take a moment to go online and take the survey. If you do not have internet access at home, please feel free to come and take the survey at school in our parent center or our media center. The directions state that is should only take 5 to 10 minutes.
